Peter McCarthy is a member of the Massachusetts Bar. His professional experience, gained through government service and years spent with prominent local, regional and national law firms, cuts across a broad array of subject areas and has included litigation and litigation management, transactional matters and legal counseling. He has performed work for a wide range of clients, from individuals and small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, including multiple Fortune 100 companies. A dedicated advocate, he has earned the praise of clients and received awards and recognition from employers for the quality of his work.
Peter has significant experience in the areas of litigation and litigation management. He has successfully argued cases before juries, judges, magistrates and administrative adjudicators, and has successfully resolved cases through out-of-court negotiation and alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.
Following his admission to the Massachusetts Bar, Peter served as a judge advocate (JAG officer) in the US Air Force. After completing his military service and returning to Massachusetts, Peter started a law practice in Boston, later moving on to successive positions with two different distinguished, busy, general practice law firms and eventually serving a lengthy term as a supervisory attorney in the contested litigation group of a national law firm, where he assisted the firm in managing its nationwide litigation and arbitration programs. Peter established Peter McCarthy Law as a boutique litigation practice devoted to handling business and real estate disputes, including consumer disputes with businesses and claims of unfair business practices.
Outside of the law, Peter has enjoyed a number of activities over the years, including hiking, biking, skiing and SCUBA diving. Peter is a former SCUBA instructor. He has taught entry-level, advanced and rescue diving, and has also presented risk management training to dive professionals. In recent years, Peter has become steadfastly focused on social justice issues, including human and civil rights, animal rights, the environment and sustainability.
